The piano keyboard consists of repeating groups of black and white keys. Notice the pattern of:

⬛⬛ = Group of 2 Black Keys

⬛⬛⬛ = Group of 3 Black Keys

The white key immediately before every group of 2 black keys is called C.

🎵 Finding Middle C

Find any group of 2 black keys. The white key just before them is called C. The C near the center of the keyboard is known as Middle C.

🎹 Middle C is one of the most important notes for beginner piano students.

Practice slowly:

  • C - D - E - F - G
  • G - F - E - D - C

Repeat 5 times.

Count evenly:

Play one note for each beat.
